start over each day. You make progress by continually beginning again and again." St. Francis de Sales (1567-1622) Francis was born in a castle in France. With the encouragement of his father, he became a lawyer. Instead of practicing law, Francis was inspired to follow Christ as a priest. He was known for his preaching, his kindness and the many books he wrote. Francis was a radical of his day for his belief that everyone was called to holiness. His book, Introduction to the Devout Life, encouraged spirituality for the laity, which was a topic unheard of in those times. He is honored as the patron saint of writers, the hearing impaired and of our diocese. St. Francis de Sales' Feast Day is January 24. |
